The American Red Cross has launched its official Tornado App, putting lifesaving information right in the hands of people who live in, visit or have loved ones in tornado-prone areas.

Severe Weather Awareness Week for South Carolina is scheduled for March 3 – 9.

It is sponsored by the National Weather Service, South Carolina Emergency Management Division, and the South Carolina Broadcasters Association. This annual event gives South Carolinians an opportunity to educate themselves or review their knowledge of severe weather hazards and safety rules.

Local Red Cross Volunteers Deploy to Help with Tropical Storm Isaac

The American Red Cross, Columbia Region, which spans 28- counties from Aiken to Myrtle Beach, has deployed seven trained disaster volunteers to assist in relief efforts along the Gulf Coast and Florida as Tropical Storm Isaac is predicted to make landfall on the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.  Additional local volunteers and five Emergency Response Vehicles are on stand-by and are expected to deploy once the storm makes landfall.
