Woman on horseback injured by falling tree | News
NEWBERRY COUNTY, SC (WIS)-
Beaufort County woman was rescued and transported to Newberry County Memorial
Hospital after a tree fell and pinned her while on the horseback trails in
Lynch's Woods Park Sunday evening.
Newberry County 911 received a call about the accident at
7:02 p.m. from two college students who were in the park and heard the
tree fall followed by calls for help.
Newberry County Rescue Squad, Newberry
County EMS, Newberry City Fire, Newberry City Police and Newberry County
Sheriff responded to assist in the rescue.
Because the rider was on a horse trail in
rough terrain, rescuers had to carry the patient across a creek and up a steep
hill to get her to an ambulance.
The patient was transported to Newberry County
Hospital with injures to the lower extremities.
Lynch's Woods is a Newberry
County park that is popular with hikers, horseback riders and mountain
bicyclists. It is a park that is kept in a natural state due to the indigenous
plants, which is popular with naturalist.
