The Newberry Opera House welcomes John Michael Montgomery, a Kentucky-born artist whose personal contributions to the state of Kentucky have made him a candidate for the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, a prestigious honor. This homegrown artist's love for music can be traced to his early years in the family band where he learned to play guitar from his father. John Micheal Montgomery will make his debut on the Newberry stage Friday, February 8th at 8:00 p.m.

With a musical career that spans ten albums and three greatest hits albums, John Michael Montgomery’s contribution to the country music includes hits such as I Swear, Be My Baby Tonight, I Can’t Love You like That, Life’s A Dance, among many others. He has had more than thirty singles on the Billboard country charts, including two of Billboard’s Number One country singles of the year: I Swear and Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident). He has earned 15 number one singles, sold over 15 million albums and received numerous industry and fan-voted awards, including CMA Awards, ACM Awards and American Music Awards, and nominated twice for a Grammy Award. John Michael was recently featured in a full length infomercial for TIME LIFE for their COUNTRY MUSIC EXPLOSION compilation package. He is also currently on his own new project for TIME LIFE to be released this year.
